Original Garage Motosport sells motorsport parts and accessories on Shopify. A large share of its catalogue is kits assembled from components, a relationship Shopify does not model. Witify built an inventory and assembly management system wired into the store, with a purchasing module designed around how they actually operate.

The starting point: Shopify without a bill of materials
Shopify handles selling well. It handles what happens behind the sale poorly: a handlebar kit sold as a single product is really a bar, a riser set, clamps and hardware, each tracked on its own. The platform has no idea a kit depends on its parts. A product shown in stock could be unsellable, and one component running out would block several kits without warning.
The co-owner spent his days counting parts and correcting numbers. The system Witify built imports products, variants and orders from Shopify, then adds what was missing: a bill of materials, an inventory you can trust, and a sync of available quantities back to the store.
What the system knows about every part
The heart of the project is the relationship between an assembly and its components. Every item carries six quantities, recalculated continuously from Shopify orders, purchase orders and receiving inspections.
The physical quantity, driven by a timestamped adjustment log rather than a number edited by hand.
What open orders require, counting each component's share in the kits already sold.
On hand, minus committed, minus parts rejected at inspection. This is the number synced to Shopify.

Purchasing calculated on their real pace
The purchasing module was designed entirely for Original Garage Motosport. Instead of a minimum threshold set by hand on each item, the system computes an average daily demand per part over a rolling 90-day window, from actual inventory outflows: direct sales and consumption by kits.
The order suggestion combines that demand with the main supplier's lead time, the quantity already committed and what is in transit. The buyer picks a horizon in days, the system proposes the quantity to buy per supplier and generates the purchase order in one click. An item-specific lead time overrides the supplier's when reality calls for it.
From supplier order to claim
The rest of the chain follows the same principle: every step leaves a record that updates inventory.
Tracking numbers
Every purchase order carries its tracking numbers. The team sees what is arriving and when, without opening a carrier portal.
Receiving and unpacking
Receiving tasks match incoming parcels to order lines, quantity by quantity, and release stock as they go.
Inspection
Parts are inspected on arrival. A rejected part gets a reason and leaves available inventory.
Claims
Missing or broken parts: the supplier claim settles as a credit or a replacement, and compensations are tracked to the end.
